In March, she wrote on Instagram: “I’m getting tired of putting up with everyone in my life and on the internet dragging me down. All I want to do is make music and make people happy and help make the world a little better than I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”
“I’m always facing lies about myself to gain influence and get views… I’m always the butt of jokes because of my looks. My personality is torn apart by people who don’t know me and don’t respect my name. I didn’t sign up for this shit.”
However, Lizzo later clarified that she would not be leaving the music industry.
She said: “I stopped paying attention to any negative energy. What I’m not going to give up is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting people, because I know I’m not alone.”
Last year, in August, the musical artist was sued by three of her former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
The former dancers had also accused Lizzo in the lawsuit filed in August of weight-shaming them and claimed they were forced to touch a naked performer while at a strip club in Amsterdam.
The filing said the trio also accused the Truth Hurts hitmaker of allegedly “inviting cast members to take turns touching the performers naked” inside the club.
The star, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, allegedly encouraged “catching dildos thrown from the performers’ vaginas and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas.”
