Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United are all reportedly paying close attention to Benfica midfielder Joao Neves, but face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and PSG.

The 19-year-old has become a fixture after establishing himself as a mainstay of Roger Schmidt’s side this season.

He played 45 matches in all competitions with the Portuguese champion, with four international caps to his credit.

Many top Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, are keen to sign Neves this summer, according to a Portuguese media outlet. Ojogo.

The holding midfielder is also attracting interest elsewhere in Europe, with PSG sporting director Luis Campos saying he is convinced by his quality.

Bayern Munich are also considering Neves – who has a €120m buyout clause, worth £103m – as they look to strengthen their midfield this summer.

A product of Benfica’s academy, Neves has made 65 senior appearances for the club since his debut in December 2022.

He was recently asked if he would stay at Benfica, but he was unable to give a straight answer.

“I promise to do my best in every practice, in every game, and I think that’s one of my greatest qualities,” Neve said last month.

“I am focused on Benfica and even more on the match (on Thursday), which is next. I think I will do my best in every match and every training session.

Neves would become the latest Benfica player to move for a significant fee following Enzo Fernandez’s £107 million move to Chelsea in January 2023.

He came off the bench in the second half as Portugal beat Sweden 5-2 in a friendly on Thursday night.
