Liverpool’s hopes of potentially signing Florian Neuhaus have risen after the midfielder denied he had already signed a deal with Bayern Munich.
The Reds are looking for a new central midfielder, while contract player Georginio Wijnaldum will move to Barcelona almost free of charge after five years at Anfield.
Reports had suggested that Neuhaus had already agreed to a move to the German champions Borussia Mönchengladbach, but the 24-year-old denied the claims.
Florian Neuhaus of Borussia Mönchendgladbach has denied signing for Bayern Munich
“I read that my move to FC Bayern in 2022 was already a foregone conclusion. I can clearly deny that here and now,” he said TZ.
“I haven’t signed a contract anywhere except with Borussia Monchengladbach. I feel very much at home there at the moment.’
While Neuhaus admitted he was happy to stay at Monchengladbach, where he scored six goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances this season, he was open to a move to Munich during his career.

“Home is a very important point for me. I can well imagine living in Markt Kaufering [an area close to Munich] again later.
‘But I also found a piece of home in Düsseldorf [on loan at Fortuna during the 2017-18 season], where I met my girlfriend, and I feel very comfortable with Gladbach.’
Neuhaus is part of Germany’s roster for Euro 2020, and after taking just five caps, admits he is looking forward to the tournament now that veteran campaigners such as Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels have been recalled to the side.
The news will be a boost for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who is looking for a replacement
“For Germany, the strongest players always have to appear. I think we have a very good squad with a good mix,” he added.
“With Thomas and Mats I wouldn’t always just emphasize their experience, they bring much more on and off the field.
“With their footballing qualities they can mean a lot to the team. They are also two good guys who bring a good atmosphere to the team.’
