Liverpool fans have claimed the decision to concede the final goal in their team’s victory at Nottingham Forest was correct as Ibrahima Konate was fouled in the build-up.
Jurgen Klopp’s men got the three points in injury time thanks to a Darwin Núñez header in the 99th minute.
However, controversy arose when play was stopped due to a head injury to Ibrahima Konate more than a minute earlier as Callum Hudson-Odoi was preparing to cross from a dangerous position. Konate quickly recovered and Tierney ruled that Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher should restart the game.
However, instead of giving possession back, Kelleher picked out a teammate and Liverpool attacked before finally finding the winning goal.
Reds fans insist that Ryan Yates fouled Konate before colliding with Kelleher and therefore the goal correctly stood.

One Liverpool fan wrote on X: ‘Really poor analysis of the NFFC LFC match. You totally missed Ryan Yates kicking Konate in the head, which was a foul and a red card all day. You also missed the referee’s whistle to stop play while the ball was still in the area and before the NFFC took possession.
Another echoed that sentiment, saying: “It was a foul against Konate, so Tierney made a mistake too.” He took a karate kick to the head and the referee missed the ball. “So it wasn’t even a drop for Forest if we follow the rules of the game, but no one on TV mentions this.”
“Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought the ball was returned to Liverpool because of a foul on Konate.” wrote a third fan.
Tierney’s controversial decision led to Forest manager Steven Reid receiving a red card after heated scenes on the bench, while substitute Felipe was booked.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was also seen comforting Tierney shortly after the final whistle.
Meanwhile, Mark Clattenburg will plead Forest’s case to his former employers after the former referee was left stunned by Tierney’s display.
