The Athletic report also claims that Marques’ extensive experience will be used to help FSG find and manage a different club.
Marques began as a youth coach at Sporting Lisbon created in 2004 before joining Manchester City as a first-team performance analyst six years later.
He switched roles in 2014, taking up a coaching and analysis job within the City Football Group.
Manchester City are part of City Group 12, other clubs including LaLiga’s Girona, New York City and Melbourne City.
Marques then joined Benfica in 2018 and became their youth technical director. His stock has continued to rise since then and Liverpool became familiar in their talks to sign Darwin Núñez.
