Kyrgios is in the house!

Here comes the man we’ve all been waiting for!

Nick Kyrgios arrived at the tennis venue ahead of his clash against British star Jacob Fearnley.

Watching Kyrgios and Djokovic dance at Pat Rafter Stadium two weeks ago made me realize how much the ATP Tour has missed the Australian star, especially his home fans in Australia.

Alongside Djokovic, the duo brought fans at the Queensland Tennis Center to their feet, played some sensational tricks, laughed and joked with each other and even danced together while on court.

Match fitness didn’t seem like much of an issue for Kyrgios either and it largely allayed any doubts or concerns about his debilitating wrist injury that had left him unable to carry a shopping bag or even put salt on his chips.

Today he will make his long-awaited return to the Grand Slam and fans have gone crazy for Kyrgios at Melbourne Park with some queuing for almost five hours to get in.

Tsitsipas is OUT of the Australian Open!

This could perhaps be considered one of the biggest surprises of the fortnight, as world number 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas made a surprising early exit from the Australian Open earlier this afternoon.

The 2023 Australian Open finalist suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of American star Alex Michelsen, who beat his Greek opponent 5-7, 3-6, 6-2, 4-6.

Michelsen, ranked 42nd on the ATP Tour, scored one of the biggest wins of his career as a 20-year-old, barring the third set, dominating Tsitsipas at the John Cain Arena.

The result means the Greek star has failed to reach the second round in his last two Grand Slam appearances, with the 2019 ATP Tour Finals winner suffering a loss to Thanasi Kokkinakis at Flushing Meadows last September.

Fans have been waiting almost five hours to see Kyrgios.

Some fans have been out in the hot Melbourne sun all morning hoping to get a ticket to see Kyrgios return to the Australian Open.

After yesterday’s storms, it has been a very warm day here in Melbourne, with temperatures reaching 27ºC today.

Thousands of fans have been queuing outside the gates, with lines outside Rod Laver’s entrance stretching almost 300 meters back.

Kyrgios, however, praised some fans for their support and posted several snaps on his Instagram account to applaud their dedication.
