Former One Direction member Liam Payne has died at the age of 31, local media report.

The pop star is said to have fallen from the roof of a Buenos Aires hotel in front of witnesses.

Emergency services are believed to still be present outside Hotel CasaSur Palmero as of Wednesday evening.

Payne was part of the original lineup of the world-famous boy band, formed in 2010, along with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles.

His death came just hours after he posed for a photo with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy on Snapchat.

He is survived by a son, Bear, born from his relationship with Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy in 2017.

Local police confirm the death of Liam Payne, 31, in a Buenos Aires hotel on Wednesday afternoon

The 31-year-old British musician was found dead after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room, police said tonight.

In a statement, the capital’s police said they were called to the hotel in the capital’s leafy Palermo neighborhood.

The emergency services confirmed the death of the singer, who would have been found in the interior patio of the hotel.

“Our hearts are absolutely broken and we wish much light and strength for his family and loved ones,” MTV’s Latin American affiliate wrote in a post on social media platform X.
