This is the incredible moment a retired music teacher was filmed entertaining train passengers by playing an impromptu concert on his saxophone.

Brendan Duffy, 67, boarded the last train from Leeds to Harrogate on Friday and was asked by fellow travelers to “play a tune” after they saw his instrument case.

The former arts teacher obeyed and began a rendition of Tequilla de los Campos and the Pink Panther theme, causing scenes of joy throughout the carriages.

Their performance was well received by the other travelers, including a bachelorette party, who can be seen singing and dancing to the songs, and some ended up standing in their seats.

The recording went viral after being posted on social media and has already garnered more than 100,000 views on TikTok.

When asked why he decided to play for passengers, Mr Duffy said: “I like seeing people happy and I think I made them even happier on the way home.”

The 67-year-old said he “liked to see people happy” after his performance went viral on social media.

Mr Duffy had boarded the train that afternoon to return to his home in Headingley and opted to sit in a packed carriage, which included a hen party.

He said bbc news: ‘I got on the train, it was quite lively. He was carrying my saxophone case. I put it on the top shelf so everyone knew it was a musical instrument.

‘Then they told me ‘you must play a melody.’ You have to play, it’s our bachelorette party. We are very happy.’

Unfortunately, the saxophonist’s performance was limited to just two songs, as he noticed the train stopping at his station stop.

Duffy added: “It’s about making people happy and for me, as a musician, you could feel the vibes on the train.” Everyone was going crazy.

‘It was contagious. I thought, I have to play this saxophone, but I also thought, I have to get off the train. I could have played as far as Harrogate or York, but I don’t live there. I live in Headingley.

A third added: “He was my music teacher at primary school at Holy Rosary and St Anne’s, he was the best.”

When asked if he would perform for a train audience again, Duffy said, “Yes, I will do it again.”
