Lottery winner from flood-ravaged city is now swimming in cash after claiming $1 million draw
- $1 million Lotto claimed by Lismore local
- Comes 12 months after devastating floods
A Lismore resident is ‘buzzing’ after winning a life-changing $1 million lottery draw a year after floods devastated his hometown.
The man, a regular from the Northern Rivers, claimed the hefty sum earlier this week after calling on all Lismore Central Newspro customers to check their tickets.
He was one of four first division winners in Monday and Wednesday’s Lotto draw 4264, although his ticket was not registered, meaning Lotto was unable to contact the man to claim the prize.
“I was just checking my ticket in the car and I felt like I could have won this,” he said. ‘Then I just crossed off all the numbers.
“It’s a shock to the system, I can tell you. My knees are shaking.’

He said he played these songs for “a long time,” including dates of birth and other important numbers.
“I always told people that one day I would win. I just hoped I wouldn’t be too old to enjoy it,” he said.
‘I will continue to work, but this will prepare my family for the future.
“Well, I’m not too old to enjoy it, that’s for sure!”
His winning entry was purchased from Lismore Central Newspro in Lismore Central Shopping Center and the winning numbers were 10, 36, 39, 26, 16, 6, while the additional numbers were 29 and 11.
Lismore Central Newspro manager Nicole Renshaw said the winning news was a relief to the community, which was hit hard by flooding a year ago.
‘It’s really good news! Coincidentally, it was won on Monday, 12 months after the Lismore floods,” she said.
“Quite a few people came in to check their Lotto tickets on Monday and Wednesday, hoping they were the mystery winner we were looking for.”
“Congratulations to our winner and we wish them all the best with their prize.”
