Last year, former Project host Wilkinson caused controversy by making comments during her Logies speech, in which she appeared to side with Brittany Higgins, despite the fact that Bruce Lehrmann’s trial was, at the time, underway. only a few days away.
Higgins first aired the allegations against Lehrmann on The Project in February 2021 in an interview with Wilkinson.
The TV presenter was awarded a Silver Logie for the segment, which delved into the culture of those who work at Parliament House, but was heavily criticized after the speech.
Lehrmann’s defense attorneys sought a permanent stay, meaning they wanted the case thrown out entirely, on the grounds that Wilkinson’s televised speech could prejudice a jury against Lehrmann.

Lizzo (pictured) has been accused of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment by three of her former backup dancers.
However, the stay request was unsuccessful and a temporary stay was granted, meaning the trial was moved from June to October 2022.
Mr Lehrmann was tried in the ACT Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to sexually assaulting Ms Higgins, but the trial was abandoned due to jury misconduct.
A new trial was abandoned after the Director of Public Prosecutions dropped the charges due to concerns for Ms Higgins’ mental health.
Lehrmann has always denied the allegations.
