Lisa Wilkinson spoke candidly about her friendship with former Today colleague Karl Stefanovic during her performance on Anh’s Brush with Fame on Tuesday.

The 60-year-old journalist admitted that she was relatively new to the television world when she joined Today in 2007, saying Karl helped her adapt.

Lisa said that she and Karl, 45, shared a computer in the Channel Nine offices and said all viewer emails would go directly to them.

She said she opened an email shortly after she started the show and found ‘it really wasn’t fun’.

“Karl just felt something had fallen in me, and he grabbed my hand a little and said,” Are you okay? “I said,” No, I am not, “she said.

He told her to focus on “giving the best show we can” and saying “that is where it all comes out.”

“I’ll always be grateful to Karl for that,” she thought.

Lisa spoke about her decision to quit the long-running breakfast show in 2017 and said that after years of advocating equal pay, she had to take a stand.

Lisa sensationally quit the program after Channel Nine failed to meet her requests to pay the same amount as Karl.
