Lisa Kudrow has revealed that she forgot how to play Smelly Cat for the Friends Reunion, and had to google the chords.
The 57-year-old actress revealed to Ellen on Thursday that prior to her performance with Lady Gaga, she realized she didn’t remember her character’s classic song Phoebe Buffay and had to look it up.
Looking back on their performance together, she said, “That was great, I was really nervous when I first heard that and then I prepared and realized I had to relearn Smelly Cat.
“I googled it!” Lisa Kudrow admitted on Thursday that she had to look up the chords for Smelly Cat for her performance with Lady Gaga at the Friends reunion because she forgot.
“I tuned my guitar and realized I didn’t know it, so I googled it. All the chords are there for Smelly Cat.
“Thank you world for posting the chords so I learned it and then my throat closed, I couldn’t get anything out, but it worked.”
Lisa admitted that she only learned Phoebe’s songs on guitar, which she made up for the show.
And when asked if she played any others, she said, ‘No, oh no, absolutely not. Just for the show, those ten years and then I was done.’

Ellen also asked Lisa how Lady Gaga thanked her for representing people who are different on Friends, and she gushed, “Yeah, that almost made me cry.
“That blew me away and it came from her too. My son was in grade school and they all listened to Lady Gaga, and their whole message was be yourself and just be yourself.”
In the reunion special, Lady Gaga seemed delighted to perform a duet with Lisa, rocking to the tune and gushing about her character, wearing a colorful ensemble that seemed to be inspired by Phoebe’s quirky style.

Lady Gaga didn’t hold back, screaming the lyrics as she played her guitar and sat on the yellow carriage next to Lisa, who hilariously told Gaga she wasn’t “too bad.”
Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – started their segment and asked, “Do you mind if I take Smelly Cat for a spin?”
Lisa happily agreed and kept nodding after hearing the hitmaker’s impressive vocals on the first few lines, telling her, “Not bad… that was really, really good.”
The actress, who played the fans’ favorite song several times during the Friends series on TV, then adopted the following lines.

Gaga and Lisa added an extra twist to the mostly acoustic track and were joined by several gospel singers donning long blue robes for the last few lyrics.
As the applause died down, Lisa delighted fans even more when she joked, “That was so great…I still think it’s better when I’m alone.”
And once their entertaining duet was completed, Gaga took the opportunity to reflect on Friends and tell Lisa how important her character was.
She gushed affectionately, “Thank you for being the person for all of us on Friends who was. I’m not sure if that’s the right way to say it, but the other or the one who really was herself.”
Classic tune: The song is said to have been created in 1995 by Betsy Borns, a Friends writer who originally intended the lyrics to be about a tantalizing dog titled “Smelly Dog”
