England Lionesses goalkeeper Khiara Keating is due to appear in court on Tuesday charged with possession of nitrous oxide, also known as “hippy crack”, according to reports.
The 20-year-old was arrested last month after she was allegedly caught with the Class C drug during an incident in June following an investigation.
Keating will appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court after being charged with possession of the substance and could face a range of penalties varying in severity if found guilty, it was reported. Mirror.
An investigation by Greater Manchester Police revealed she was stopped by police on the eve of joining up with the England national team last month.
First-time offenders of possession with intent to inhale nitrous oxide can be punished with an unlimited fine, community service or police caution, while repeat offenders can be punished with prison terms.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police confirmed Keating will appear in court on her possession charge, saying: ‘Khiara Keating (27/06/2004) from Manchester has been charged with possession of class C drugs (nitrous oxide).
‘He will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 23 July.
‘These charges relate to an incident which took place on Tuesday 18 June on Queens Road.’
Keating is fresh off the best season of her career, in which she starred for Manchester City and earned her first call-up to the senior England squad, where she became the first black goalkeeper to play for the Lionesses.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman has already used her as a back-up option to Mary Earps and she was instrumental in Manchester City securing second place in the Women’s Super League until the final day of the season.
