Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will join Inter Miami FC from MLS.
In a statement with Mundo Deportivo, he said: “I’m not going back to Barca, I’m going to Inter Miami.”
“I made the decision to go to Miami. I still haven’t closed it one hundred percent. I miss some things but we decided to continue on the path. If the Barcelona thing doesn’t come out, I wanted to leave Europe, get out of the spotlight and think more about my family,” Messi said.
Speaking on potential rumors that he could return to Barcelona, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner said: “I really wanted [to return to Barcelona]I was very excited to be able to come back, but after going through what I went through and the exit I had, I didn’t want to find myself in the same situation again: waiting to see what was going to happen and leaving my future in hand From another.
“I wanted to make my own decision, to think of myself, of my family. Even though I heard that it was said that La Liga had accepted everything and everything was fine for him to come back, there was still a lot of other things to do.
‘I heard they [Barcelona] had to sell players or lower player salaries and the truth is that I didn’t want to go through that or take charge of getting anything that had to do with any of that”.
“I’ve already been accused of a lot of things that weren’t true in my career at Barcelona and I was already a bit tired, I didn’t want to go through all that. Well, the time I had to leave , LaLiga had also accepted that they hire me and in the end it could not be done.
“Well, I was afraid that the same thing would happen again and that I would have to live the bullfight as it happened, that I would have to come here to Paris to stay in the hotel for a long time with my family. , my children going to school and still being at the hotel… I wanted to make my own decision and that’s why I didn’t turn to Barça a bit. that couldn’t.
“I’m also at a time when I want to distract myself a little, to think more about my family.
