Swedish golfer Linn Grant accidentally hit a spectator in the head with her golf ball at the AIG Women’s Open, according to reports.

The 24-year-old had just started her final round at Walton Heath from the first par-4 hole, playing her tee shot down the right side of the fairway.

Grant then hit an approach shot with his seven iron that went wide and unintentionally hit the spectator in the head.

Aftonbladet reports that the gentleman, who was standing in the crowd at the time, began “bleeding profusely” as paramedics were called to the scene before wrapping the man’s head in bandages.

Other patrons were pictured gathering around the onlooker, who was said to have been ‘helped up after about ten minutes and chased away in a golf cart’.

The Swedish outlet says the man “gave his thumbs up” as he was chased and also spoke with the onlooker’s son.

Speaking of his dad, he told Aftonbladet: “He seems to be fine, but now we just hope it turns out okay.”

She started the tournament by carding a par-round 73 on Thursday, before finishing on Friday. with an impressive three under 69.

The 24-year-old, who is currently 19th in the Rolex rankings, did better on Saturday, birding six and two birdies to put her within reach to claim the top spot, with an impressive four-under 68 for her third round.

She then pared on the first hole of her final round, before posting a bogey on the second as well as bogeys on the fifth, sixth and seventh holes.

Grant, who turned pro in 2021, won her first LPGA Tour title in July at the Dana Open.

She finished her weekend with a final round of 76, putting T11 in the standings at two under par, 12 strokes behind the champion Lilia Saw.
