‘This Is Music To My Ears’: Line Of Duty’s Vicky McClure Expresses Her Joy As Our Dementia Choir Becomes A Registered Charity

She helped us fund Our Dementia Choir in 2019 while creating a program about the syndrome.

And two years later, Vicky McClure proudly announced that the organization – a singing group made up of people all living with dementia – has now become an officially registered charity.

The Line Of Duty star, 37, took to Instagram in a vibrant sweater on Sunday as she shared a clip revealing the good news.

Vicky said, “Hey guys, I hope you’re fine. Just wanted to jump in and give you a little update on Our Dementia Choir.

So tomorrow night we have the singology session with Mark Delisser, some choir members will join us, which will be great, there are hundreds of people who signed up, so thank you very much.

“It’s a free session, but we’ve said if you can, make a small donation to Our Dementia Choir.”

The thespian then shared the good news that they have finally achieved their goal of making Our Dementia Choir a good cause.

She added: ‘Which brings me to the news, for the past year we’ve been working to make Our Dementia Choir a registered charity, and we’ve finally done it.

‘Without sounding too cheesy, it really is music to my ears. It gives us many opportunities for the future, and many ways to raise money, and to try and spread this great choir far and wide and start other choirs along the way.

So the dream is big, but we finally did it. And I just wanted to let you know, in case you were donating, that you are now donating the Our Dementia Choir the registered charity. ‘

‘With the most dedicated and loving team behind it, we are now a registered charity! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support and love. It helps change lives.

‘Looking forward to seeing those of you join @markdelisser & me tomorrow for @singologychoir. Anyone can sing … especially on Zoom, we are all muted Xxx ‘.

The star, who plays Detective Sergeant Kate Fleming in the hit BBC drama Line Of Duty, has previously spoken about her grandmother Iris’ dementia after she tragically passed away in 2015.

Dementia is a syndrome associated with a continuous decline in brain function, which can affect memory loss, comprehension, mood, and movement.

She starred in a BBC One documentary series, the Dementia Choir, in 2019, in which she explored the vital link between music and dementia.

The show also documented what music therapy can do for people with dementia and celebrated the choir’s personal journeys.

She explained how ‘music can uplift you’ and ‘change your mood’ while drawing attention to the ‘excellent results’ that music therapy has for people with dementia.
