Actor Martin Compston has noted that the popularity of his hit show Line Of Duty is somewhat bittersweet thanks to the attention it attracts.

The 36-year-old has been seen throughout the series – now on its sixth season – and Dermot O’Leary told on his BBC Radio 2 show this weekend about how the series has become a ‘giant machine’.

‘We had a Zoom catch up last night – I, [co-stars] Vick [McClure]Adrian [Dunbar] and [writer] Jed [Mercurio] – we chat once a week [the show’s] because we all know what the other is going through and we can moan well, ”he said.

‘The support we have is great, but you know, the show just turned into a gigantic machine. That amount of attention is not something that naturally suits me.

‘I really appreciate it, but we’re now at that point where everything we’ve said in the past is being scrutinized, so it’s good to just take the first [episode] out and it gets more about the show because that’s what people should be talking about instead of us. And that is the most important. ‘

Adrian Dunbar, who plays AC-12 boss Ted Hastings, revealed this week that he wants to do more stunts on Line Of Duty.

The actor, 62, even joked that it is normally his co-stars Martin, and Vicky McClure, 37, who get to do the “ exciting things ” on the show.

Please note, the 36-year-old has been on the entire series of the show - now in its sixth season - and Dermot O'Leary told on his BBC Radio 2 show this weekend about how the series became a 'gigantic machine'.

The Irish actor told me Daily star: ‘I like things that are a bit reckless, as long as the people around me are professionals. Stuntmen help you through everything.

‘It’s all about timing. Safety comes in the timing. So I love doing stunts like that. But unfortunately especially Martin and Vicky who do the exciting things nowadays’.

It comes after Adrian’s co-star Vicky admitted that, despite considering her co-stars as ‘family’, they sometimes have dramatic bust-ups when she remarked, ‘Of course we screwed up each other’.

Speaking of the behind-the-scenes dynamic, the actress explained that it can get quite heated at times between the trio on set, but their fallouts are “ never so bad it can’t be fixed. ”

On screen, Vicky’s character Kate, DS Steve Arnott (Compston) and Supt Ted Hastings make up a pretty formidable team, after years of catching “ bent cops ” as part of the police’s anti-corruption unit AC-12.

And despite being great friends in real life, Vicky revealed that there can be tension between the three at times, though she dismissed it as “ not a big drama. ”

Speak against The mirror, she said: “You can laugh and if anything, it’s Adie who takes the brunt of it because he has to put up with me and Martin acting like a pair of school kids around him. There is a perfect dynamic.

‘The reality, of course, is that we, of course, we got each other off p *****. It would be wrong to say ‘that never happened’ because that would be a lie. ‘

It comes after Line Of Duty’s series six premiere Sunday became the third most watched show of the year in Britain, with nearly 10 million viewers tuning in to AC-12’s return.

The new series saw the previously tight-knit anti-corruption unit in a state of disarray as a new murder investigation involving DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly MacDonald) took hold at the epicenter.

Fans were instantly hooked on the BBC One show with an average of 9.57 million viewers, a 44.5 percent share of the audience.

At its peak between 9:00 PM and 9:15 PM, the show was watched by even more massive 9.69 million viewers.
