Line Of Duty viewers flocked to Twitter on Tuesday evening to take apart the second episode of the new series.

And, as usual, fan theories started rolling in thick and fast, with eagle-eyed enthusiasts noting a range of possible explanations for some of the biggest plot holes and red herrings handed out during the episode.

One of the main theories focused on newcomer DCI Jo Davidson [Kelly MacDonald] which was brought in for the season’s first AC-12 interrogation scene.

Is DCI Jo Davidson being blackmailed?

She was seen being grilled by Chief Inspector Ted Hastings [Adrian Dunbar], Acting DI Steve Arnott [Martin Compston] and DC Chloe Bishop [Shalom Brune-Franklin] Allegations of gross misconduct related to the ongoing investigation into the murder of journalist Gail Vella [Andi Osho]

However, at the end of the episode, seemingly not guilty, she was let go after her ex-girlfriend PS Farida Jatri [Anneika Rose] was implemented in corruption.

However, Jo was seen taking a ride with noted curved brass Ryan Pilkington [Gregory Piper] and taken to pick up a burner phone, which made her look suspicious again.

However, fans are convinced that the DCI is being blackmailed into corruption and that she is not as seedy as she seems.

Will Kate and Jo hook up?

Finally, fans seemed to be championing a romance between DI Kate Fleming [Vicky McClure] and Jo, with some prediction that Kate might be using Jo for information.

“I am very ready for this Kate Fleming and Jo Davidson dalliance!” one person enthusiastic.

Another wrote: ‘KATE AND JO PLSSSSS!’

“Look, if you’re going to lock up Jo, at least do it after she and Kate sleep together, pls!” another wrote.

In the episode, Steve was also temporarily promoted, continued to fight his injuries, and began a potential relationship with John Corbett’s widow Steph. [Amy De Bhrún]

Elsewhere, AC-12 was given permission to take over Operation Lighthouse to investigate corruption.
