Lily Allen has detailed the hilarious moment she discovered she had been referred to a child psychiatrist as an adult.
The singer has recently raised concerns about the future of her marriage to husband David Harbour, after admitting she is “not in a great place mentally”.
In a new Miss Me clip? On the podcast, Lily shared the surprising admission that when she started seeing a new therapist when she moved to New York, she didn’t know they specialized in child psychology.
Lily went on to reveal that she first learned about the mix-up when she was referred to another psychiatrist, and when she visited his office, its child-friendly design led to the truth being revealed.
She told co-host Miquita Oliver: “When I moved to New York, Henrietta, my godmother, is a very well-connected person and knew a lot of people in New York, and I told her, ‘I’m going to move to New York, Can you?” Turn off the probes and see if there is someone who can be my therapist?
“And she said ‘yes, of course,’ so she emailed a couple of her friends… and said ‘my goddaughter is moving to New York, can you recommend someone?’ and that’s how I connected with this woman, and she emailed me.

‘I started seeing her and really liked her, and then about a year and a half later she referred me to someone in her office who was a psychiatrist.
And I got to the office and everything was like baby seats, abacuses and children’s books. And I was like, “This is weird.”
“When I went to see the psychiatrist, he said, ‘Obviously we don’t usually deal with adults, but since you’re Anne’s client…’
“Then I went back to Anne and said, ‘Are you a child psychiatrist?’ She said, ‘Yes, I told you that in the email.’
“Basically, Henrietta’s friend had assumed that when I said goddaughter, goddaughter meant girl, so she recommended a child psychologist, and that’s why I’m still seeing a child psychologist.”
But Lily admitted that seeing a child psychiatrist has still proven beneficial.
When asked if it had been beneficial, he added: “Yes, I think it actually is, because it helps my children.”
Lily previously shared that she She has been going to therapy to sort out her issues after moving to New York with her children Ethel Mary, 13, and Marnie Rose, 11, and her husband David.

Questions about their relationship were raised last year when Lily unfollowed the Stranger Things actor, 49, on social media.
Now she has begun to hint that there are problems in her family life and has even said that she is “bored of men.”
She recently admitted on Miss Me? podcast she hosts with her best friend, host Miquita Oliver: “I’m going through a bit of a tough time right now, but I’m trying to keep going.”
In a previous episode, she told how her two daughters had found themselves in the line of fire.
‘I exploded and screamed at the children. I thought, “I can’t handle this right now; I’m going through so much that I need you two to behave.”
He then explained to them: “We are all going through difficult times right now, so I apologize and I am sorry.”
In another segment, she described Aaron Batterham, her mother Alison’s boyfriend, as a “pillar of support” and “the main male person in my life who is great and supportive,” without mentioning David.
For some, a possible clue to the cause of their confusion came when Lily announced, “I’m so bored of men.”
Lily has also recently been photographed without her wedding ring. Video clips from her podcast show Lily’s left hand without the large diamond David gave her four years ago.
Nor did he have it when he attended an addiction awareness event in London earlier this month.
It comes after Lily revealed she is “not in a good place mentally” and has stopped eating.
Speaking on her podcast Miss Me?, Lily made a candid confession about her mental health.
The Smile creator opened up about how this has affected her diet, with the star admitting she hasn’t eaten and never feels hungry.
“I’ve been going through a tough time for the last few months and my diet has become an issue,” Lily said.
‘My therapist and I talk about it and she says, “How long has this been going on?” And I said, “Well, actually about three years.” And she’s like, “Okay, why didn’t you mention it before?”
And it’s not because I’m lying about it. It’s just because it doesn’t seem to be at the top of the list of important things I need to talk about, but it obviously is.

Lily added: “I’m not very good at talking about the big picture. That’s also something to do with my ADHD, where I don’t connect things.
‘And also, my body and my brain are two very separate things for me. I know a lot of people feel like those two things are very connected to each other, but for me it’s very different. I spend a lot of time in my head and little time thinking about my body.
“I’m really not in a great place mentally right now and I’m not eating. I’m not hungry. Obviously I’m hungry, but my body and my brain are so disconnected from each other that my body… the hunger messages don’t get from my body to my brain.
‘I’m not avoiding food, I’m just not thinking about it because I’m so psyched up. My body is like a few steps behind me.
