Tim Sherwood has taken issue with Kai Havertz handing his shirt to a member of the Brighton coaching staff after the final whistle of Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over the Seagulls.

Havertz continues to silence his doubters following his summer move from Chelsea with standout performances for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The German scored the second of three goals for the north Londoners, who produced their latest dominant performance to overtake Liverpool at the top of the Premier League ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.

But despite his excellent work, former Tottenham manager Sherwood criticized the 24-year-old for his actions on Saturday night.

Havertz was seen giving his shirt to Seagulls coach Marcattilio Marcattilii after the final whistle, a move Sherwood found unacceptable.

“It’s interesting to see Kai Havertz giving his shirt to the Brighton assistant manager,” he said on TV coverage of the match on HUB Premier 1. ‘I can’t allow that. What the hell is that man thinking?!

The striker is unlikely to pay much attention to the criticism after scoring his ninth Premier League goal of the campaign and fifth in seven games.

He also provided four assists in those games as the Gunners set a blistering pace in 2024 to compete to win the Premier League for the first time in 20 years.

Many expected a trip to the Amex to be a tough test, but after a brief period early in the game in which Brighton were in the ascendancy, Arteta’s side dictated the game before taking the lead with a Bukayo Saka penalty.

Havertz then gave the visitors a breather in the second half before former Seagull Leandro Trossard added the third in the final 10 minutes.

Arsenal also extended their impressive defensive run with a fifth consecutive away clean sheet. They have conceded just four goals in 11 games since the beginning of the year.
