Liberty University football player Tajh Boyd has died by suicide, a medical examiner has said.
Boyd, a 19-year-old freshman offensive lineman from Chesapeake, Va., died last week.
And as reported CBS News 6 And 10 WAVYthe Western District Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Boyd committed suicide.
The medical examiner did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for more information on Sunday.
Liberty coach Jamey Chadwell did not specifically say Boyd died by suicide, but confirmed his death was not football-related.

A Lynchburg police spokesperson said this week that police have reviewed the death and determined that a criminal investigation is not necessary.
“It’s been a tough time not just for our staff, our players and our whole community trying to come to terms with all the different things that have happened,” Chadwell told a press conference.
“He had a huge impact on the team. He was very quiet when it came to outside calm, but when he was one-on-one with his teammates he lit up the room. He had a very generous heart and if there was anything anyone was going through on the team, he was always there.
Conference USA, in which Liberty Football plays, also released a statement after Boyd’s death: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Liberty Football student-athlete Tajh Boyd,” it read. “Our thoughts are with the Boyd family and the Flames Nation during this difficult time.”

Boyd was a freshman offensive lineman who had yet to play a game for Liberty University
Boyd was heavily recruited from Oscar F. Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he won two state titles.
The offensive lineman has also received scholarship offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Campbell, Duke, Jackson State, James Madison, Maine, Maryland, Morgan State, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T and Virginia Tech, according to his Liberty bio page. .
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, and Chadwell said when they are, the coaching staff will rearrange the team schedule to be part of it.
“Obviously we’re trying to prepare a team, but we’re also trying to make sure we understand the different feelings that different groups might have and how to deal with them,” Caldwell said.
The Flames are scheduled to open the season at home against Bowling Green on September 2.
