Fourth in the World Championships Liane Lippert narrowly missed out on victory in the difficult Flèche Wallonne cycling race.

After 127.3 kilometers on the up to 20 percent steep Mur von Huy, the 25-year-old from Friedrichshafen was only beaten by Demi Vollering from the Netherlands.

Lippert was five seconds behind at the finish, third place went to the Italian Gaia Realini. Vollering had already won the Amstel Gold Race at the start of the Ardennes races on Sunday.
