She said she “went cold” when she saw it and had spent the last few days hoping it was a mistake as she struggled to come to terms with Liam’s tragic death.

Nicola shared family photos as well as one of Liam on stage with 1D along with a touching tribute as she said: “You really were too good for this earth, you are an angel who only lived to make people smile and happy.”

The 36-year-old told how Liam had always shown kindness to everyone he met and his family were his “biggest fans always and forever”.

“When I saw the news pop up on my phone that you had left us, I froze,” he said.

‘I really wanted this to be fake. I’ve spent days hoping it was a mistake and that someone had made a mistake.’

He added that he had been remembering his emotional messages from the night before his niece’s birth.

Nicola ended the post by writing: ‘I hope you have finally found peace up there and continue to look after us all as you have done in life. We’ll make sure Bear knows about his dad and how much you loved him, we promise.

“See you soon Liam, I love you xx.”
