A young skydiving instructor has been remembered as an “amazing man” after falling to his death in a freak accident.

Liam Newman, 25, who lives in Brisbane but is originally from Taupo on New Zealand’s North Island, died in a skydiving incident at a rural property in Tarawera, north of Goondiwindi in Queensland, on Tuesday.

‘Our brother and best friend Liam Newman tragically passed away in a skydiving accident,’ his best friend Cody Mason wrote in a message to a friend. GoFundMe Page created to support his grieving family.

‘Liam was a man who dared to push boundaries and had his heart set on conquering the world.’

Mr Newman worked at iFLY Brisbane indoor skydiving centre.

The company said it was “incredibly saddened to hear that one of our staff members, Liam Newman, had a fatal accident at a skydiving event in western Queensland.”

“He was a much-loved member of our team and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

Mr Newman’s parachute reportedly opened and functioned normally as he attempted a group jump at an event organised for experienced skydivers on Tuesday.

But he landed at a bad angle and suffered multiple serious injuries, according to The courier mail.

More to come.
