Liam Hendriks is officially BACK! White Sox reinstate pitcher just FIVE MONTHS after cancer diagnosis as he is seen warming up with teammates ahead of Angels series
The Chicago White Sox have officially confirmed Liam Hendriks’ return ahead of Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, less than five months after he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Hendriks, 34, announced in January that he had been diagnosed with cancer and immediately started treatment.
The White Sox said on their official Twitter page on Monday night: “Prior to tonight’s series opener against the Los Angeles Angels, the #WhiteSox have released right-handed pitcher Liam Hendriks from injury rehabilitation with the Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him on the 15-day Disabled List.
Now, after returning to baseball earlier this month in the minor league, he returns to Major League Baseball on Monday night.
As teams were confirmed, the official MLB account tweeted that Hendriks was “a true inspiration.”
