Fans of Lewis Capaldi shared their enthusiastic reactions when the singer spoke in an extensive chat about his new romance and his struggle with Tourette’s syndrome.
The musician, 26, spoke candidly about his relationship with girlfriend Ellie MacDowall and how ‘happy’ he is as he promoted his new single Wish You The Best.
He then went on to provide insight into how he copes with Gilles de la Tourette – a neurological condition characterized by a combination of involuntary sounds and movements called tics.
Speaking to Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2, Lewis said he sometimes has to take a day off from work when his tics get too painful and he talked about panic attacks.

In the interview, Lewis had explained that there is no real treatment for Gilles de la Tourette and how he tries to manage his symptoms.
He said: ‘There’s no real treatment for Gilles de la Tourette, I’m in a position where I can cancel a whole day’s work… I feel really bad for other people, that must be so much worse.
“You don’t have the luxury I have. That is very difficult for a small child who has to go to school.’

Lewis, who recently released his Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now, also shared his struggles with anxiety, saying he had “multiple” panic attacks over the weekend.
“I had multiple panic attacks on Saturday night, I went for a few beers, I feel anxious after drinking,” he said.
“My mom had to calm me down and get into bed with me. The whole week after that I felt free.’
But Lewis went on to share how ‘happy’ he is at the moment, talking about his new romance with his Scottish girlfriend Ellie, 23.
He gushed, “I have a girlfriend and she’s doing really well, I’m happy happy, she’s a beautiful lady, I feel good about everything.”
Lewis’ Netflix documentary saw him travel back to his childhood home in Scotland after the success of his first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, and begin writing his second.
It also explored the singer’s journey with Tourette’s syndrome, after doctors picked up on his uncontrollable shoulder twitching.
On the programme, he admitted that he often feels like a “cheat” in his career and said he sometimes doubted his talent, reading an email Elton John had sent him to reassure him.
Speaking to radio host Scott, Lewis spoke again about the email saying it was really sweet, but he admitted he still fears his abilities.
Looking back at the email, he said, “It’s easy for Elton John to say! It was really lovely, I got the email on the night of the 2020 BRIT Awards, it was really nice to get some reassurance.”
When asked if he still feels like a cheater, he added: Now more than ever, unless you’re an Elton John or an Ed Sheeran, we all complain about it.
“I know people who are extraordinarily talented than me, who never get the chance that I have… you don’t just have to be a famous singer/sex symbol like me, I have friends in office jobs who feel like they’re barking it up.” It makes us human.’

Of the song, he recently said, “It’s about someone moving on and that feeling that you know is best for that person but you want to say to them and all you say is ‘good luck I’m really happy for you.” “.”
But it seems that his emotional song is not a commentary on his current love life as he is in a happy relationship with actress Ellie who is also a trained dancer and singer.

Earlier on Thursday, Lewis had posted a snippet of his new song Wish You The Best to Twitter along with the heartbreaking lyrics.
He sang, “Oh my love, I want to say I miss the green in your eyes. And when I said we could be friends, I lied.
“I want to say I wish you never left. Oh but instead I wish you only the best.’
Writing on Twitter, he announced the release of the song saying “wish you well” yours tonight at 11:59pm x’
Lewis previously dated Love Island winner Paige Turley from 2014 to 2016, after they met at university in Motherwell.
She is said to have inspired his hit album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent and his hit song, Someone You Loved.
Lewis previously said of the inspiration for the record: ‘I met a lady. She was very nice. I loved her. I loved her look and I loved the way she spoke.
The singer rose to fame in 2019 after his hit single Somebody You Loved topped the UK Singles Chart for six weeks – and recently became the UK’s most-streamed song of all time.
