Moment Kyle Langford spurns chance for Anzac Day glory as Essendon and Collingwood DRAW historic game in 28-year first

For the first time since the opening Anzac Day match between Essendon and Collingwood, the prestigious contest ended in a draw.

The Bombers and Pies played a drama-filled encounter at the MCG on Thursday afternoon, but neither team could come away with all the spoils in a match that ended with 12 goals and 13 goals each.

Essendon star Kyle Langford had a chance to take all the glory with a set shot within scoring range, but he missed his effort and recorded a behind.

Before that, Jamie Elliott had stolen the show with a spectacular mark, beating 202cm Ben McKay to claim what is sure to be one of the favorites for mark of the year.

Bombers captain Zach Merrett took home the Anzac Day medal after recording 31 disposals, eight tackles and six clearances.

More to follow.
