According to the duo, they recently discovered that their mothers were sleeping with the same man, and that they may share a father
Thousands of people have taken to the comments to share their thoughts, and many commented that Carley and Mercedes are eerily similar.
One person commented, “That might explain why you two look like sisters….”

Thousands of people have taken to the comments to share their thoughts, and many commented that they look eerily similar. The couple claimed they were ‘afraid’ to take a DNA test
“WE’RE AFRAID,” they replied.
There were also some skeptics who found it hard to believe their story was real.
“I don’t know if this is real or just a TikTok joke…?” one person admitted, while another added: ‘I have a feeling this is a joke, but [you] to do [for real] look exactly the same.’
Carley and Mercedes also sparked a debate over whether they should split up if it turns out they’re half-sisters, when they asked, “If we’re really family, is it wrong to stay together?”
“Personally I probably wouldn’t, but if the love is real and it’s something you can overlook, work for it,” one person wrote.

‘She [can’t] reproduce so it wouldn’t harm any child they would have,” another commented. “So I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. You didn’t know.’
Other commenters were shocked, pointing out that it is incest and illegal in most US states and Canada, regardless of whether or not they can have children together.
However, Carley and Mercedes didn’t seem to share their horror, and they continued to make cheeky videos explaining their alleged plight.
“We are happy in our 2-year relationship,” they wrote in a follow-up video, laughing together. “Finding out we might be half sisters,” they added, shocked.
The couple sparked a heated debate in the comments of their first video after asking whether it would be “wrong to stay together” if they found out they were “actually related.”
Some claimed they could keep dating because they can’t have children, while other shocked users pointed out that it’s incest and illegal
‘Bus or dating plot twist.. maybe both???’ they wrote in the caption.
In another video posted Monday, they claimed they ordered DNA tests and are waiting for them to arrive.
“When they come, you have to spit in the tube and send it in. So it’s a process of a few weeks,” Carley explained.
Mercedes noted that they were confused about how the tests work and worried that if they kiss they would get inaccurate test results.
“If we kiss before taking the test, will it affect the DNA results because our saliva is in each other’s mouths?” she asked.

Carley added that they don’t know if they shouldn’t kiss for 24 hours to make sure their DNA isn’t “in each other’s mouths.”
‘What are we doing?’ she asked. ‘Help out.’
In the couple’s most recent video, they appeared to clap back at the idea of enjoying the possibility that they might be family.
“We LOVE finding out we might be half sisters after dating for 2 years,” they wrote in the lip sync clip.
“Oh my god, I just love your matching dresses,” they synced. ‘Really? No!’
