Lenny Henry shows off his trim physique as he films Harlan Coben Netflix drama alongside Rosalind Eleazar and Top Boy’s Ashley Walters

Lenny Henry showed off his lean physique while filming new Netflix series Missing You alongside co-stars Rosalind Eleazar and Top Boy star Ashley Walters.

The actor and comedian, 65, who last co-hosted Red Nose Day after 39 years at the helm earlier this month, will star in the upcoming series based on the novel of the same name by thriller writer Harlan Coben.

The 2014 thriller follows Detective Kat Donovan, whose life is turned upside down when her fiancé Josh reappears on a dating app after being missing for 15 years, at the same time as her father’s killer makes a shocking confession.

The Netflix adaptation sees actress Rosalind take on the lead role of Kat, alongside Lenny, Ashley and Harlan favorite Richard Armitage, who has starred in three of the author’s shows on the streaming service.

Lenny was spotted filming the series at an unspecified location on Tuesday, sporting a bright green polo shirt, navy pants and a flat cap.

The actor, 65, who last co-hosted Red Nose Day after 39 years at the helm earlier this month, will star in the series Missing You (seen with co-star Rosalind Eleazar).

The actor, who stars in the upcoming adaptation as Clint Donovan, smiled as he strolled carrying a wooden basket and was kissed by lead actress Rosalind.

As she lovingly hugged Lenny, Rosalind put on light blue high-waisted belted jeans, a printed crop top, and a printed shirt on top, with sage green boots. The pair were also seen wearing huge puffer jackets.

Rosalind was seen wrapping her hands around Lenny’s neck as she stood on tiptoe to kiss him, before running off waving her arms.

However, in another snap, Rosalind was also seen kissing Ashley, hinting at a possible love triangle in the upcoming series.

As Ashley, dressed in dark gray jeans, a white vest, and a plaid shirt, loaded things into what appeared to be a moving van, Rosalind hugged him.

Rosalind tenderly took her face in her hands and kissed Ashley next to the truck.

It comes after Lenny’s last time co-hosting Comic Relief’s star-studded Red Nose Day show was watched by an average of 3.6 million viewers, according to overnight figures.

The annual fundraising programme, which included a series of comedy sketches, musical performances and tributes to Sir Lenny, saw a notable increase in viewers compared to last year’s average of 2.9 million.

The Netflix adaptation sees stage and screen actress Rosalind take on the lead role as Kat, alongside Lenny, Ashley and Harlan favorite Richard Armitage, who has starred in three of the author’s shows on the streaming service.

It also had a peak audience of 4.3 million, up from 3.4 million last year, the BBC said.

Appearances by Hollywood actors and Sir Lenny’s performance during the show have helped raise £38,631,548 for Comic Relief so far, the charity has announced.

Dudley-born actor Sir Lenny, who co-founded Comic Relief in 1985 with Love Actually screenwriter Richard Curtis, praised the public for donating “so generously”.

“My last time hosting the show has been incredibly special and I’m already thinking about what we can do to make next year, our 40th anniversary, even more so,” he said.

‘The money raised tonight is phenomenal. For me, one of the most beautiful things about this country is that the British public can give so generously while struggling to overcome a cost of living crisis. We never stop worrying.’

Harlan’s 2014 novel, Missing You, is about a police detective named Kat Donovan whose life is turned upside down when her fiancé Josh reappears on a dating app after being missing for 15 years.

It comes after Lenny’s last time co-hosting Comic Relief’s star-studded Red Nose Day show was watched by an average of 3.6 million viewers, according to overnight figures.

It also had a peak audience of 4.3 million, up from 3.4 million last year, the BBC said.

Sir Lenny co-hosted the show alongside Davina McCall, Love Island presenter Maya Jama, Doctor Who star David Tennant, actor and comedian Romesh Ranganathan, The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett, Take Me Out star Paddy McGuinness and podcaster Rosie Ramsey.

Reflecting on Sir Lenny’s legacy, McCall told the British TV star during the show that he was “irreplaceable”.

“On behalf of all of us here tonight and, of course, the entire nation, I must say that you are completely and absolutely 100%. Am I right when I say that you are irreplaceable?” he said.

Sir Lenny said: “I don’t want to make too much of a fuss, it’s been an honor and a joy… it’s not about me, it’s about the joy and the money, it’s about comedy and compassion.”
