Legendary Oasis guitarist Gem Archer has reportedly joined his bandmates for the group’s big comeback tour in 2025.

Archer, 57, joined the band following the departure of Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs in 1999, and is said to still be close friends with former brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

The 14-show tour will run from July 4 to August 17, kicking off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium before the brothers fill Heaton Park in Manchester, Wembley in London, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Croke Park in Dublin.

A source said The mirror‘None of the band members are 100% confirmed yet, but Gem seems very likely to join Bonehead. The key is to find people that both brothers get along with and respect, and ideally they’ve also been in the band before.’

“Gem ticks all those boxes and has also contributed to writing some of Oasis’ songs. He’s an obvious target and it would be a huge surprise if he wasn’t on stage during the UK tour.”

Before adding: ‘He knows the songs, he knows the band inside out and he’s toured with the Gallaghers before, so he knows what he’s getting into.’

MailOnline has contacted Gem’s representatives for comment.

Archer began his musical career in the early 1980s with bands such as The Edge and The Contenders.

Following the split of Oasis in 2009, he joined Liam, Chris Sharrock and Andy Bell in the former group Beady Eye. He has also played with Noel’s band, High Flying Birds.

Despite speculation that Oasis will be on the Glastonbury 2025 bill and also on tour, it is understood that the band will not be performing at Worthy Farm. However, plans are afoot for Oasis to head to other continents outside of Europe later next year.

The duo met in secret to plan their rumoured reunion at Oasis, with staff present forced to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Announcing the Oasis Live 25 tour alongside the first photo of the brothers together in years, the legendary band said: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come and see it. It won’t be televised.”

Oasis’ website crashed immediately after the announcement and fans went into a frenzy. The reunion comes one day before the band’s split date of 28 August 2009.

Gem’s predecessor Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs (pictured in 2021) is also rumoured to be returning to the shows.

During his headline performance in Reading, Liam performed several Oasis hits from their debut album Definitely Maybe to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Introducing Half The World Away, a 1994 B-side that also appeared as the theme song to sitcom The Royle Family, she told the crowd: “I want to dedicate this song to Noel f**king Gallagher.”

Liam continued to keep fans guessing by dedicating his performance of Cigarettes & Alcohol at Reading Festival to people who hate Oasis.

The song, written by her older brother, was the final single from her 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe.

Closing the set, Liam suggested an announcement could be made on Tuesday at 8am. A short clip of a poster in the style of the Oasis logo was projected onto a large screen above the stage and then shared on Oasis, Noel and Liam’s official Instagram and X accounts.

The white rectangular box with a black block in the middle had the date “27.08.24” written in the middle, where the band’s name is normally seen. It then flickered and changed to read “8am.”

In recent years, Liam has been keen to make amends with his brother and reform the iconic Britpop band, but his older brother has thrown cold water on the idea.

But following Noel’s £20million divorce from ex-wife Sara MacDonald last year, the elder Gallagher is said to have become convinced of the financial merits of reuniting the band for dates at Glastonbury and Wembley Stadium.

It is expected to be the most popular tour in British concert history, and industry insiders say the deal brokered by the brothers will net them £50m.

This comes as Liam sent Oasis fans into a frenzy as he appeared to confirm the Don’t Look Back In Anger singers will tour the country next year.

Asked on X, formerly Twitter, about Oasis’ planned shows, Liam wrote: “See you up front.”

She later told her 3.6 million followers on the platform: “I never liked that word EX.”

Despite the easing of tensions between them, the younger Gallagher couldn’t help but poke fun at his brother. When asked what he would say to Noel when they returned to the stage, he said: “Keep going.”

Oasis’ reunion tour will give the UK economy a “supersonic” boost with demand for accommodation and hospitality growing in cities hosting concerts, experts have said.

Hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants close to the concert venues will now benefit from fans wanting to make the most of the band’s long-awaited return.

Payments provider SumUp has estimated the tour will boost the UK and Ireland economy by £350m, adding that each fan will spend around £350 per gig.

In addition to spending on tickets and merchandise, the company projected total spending of £112m on travel, £76m on hotel rooms and £22m on food and drink. It also estimated total capacity across all venues on the tour would be 1,007,888.

Average travel costs are expected to be £111 per person, plus hotel rooms priced from £111 in Cardiff to £158 in London for two adults sharing, £40 on merchandise and £22 on food and drink on site, plus an estimated cost of £100 per ticket.
