Left-wing mafia environmentalists spray-painted Lionel Messi’s £10m family home while claiming the rich are ‘responsible for the climate crisis’.
The climate activists posted pictures showing two members of their group standing outside the Argentine star’s villa in Ibiza, near the Cala Tarida cove, holding a banner reading: ‘Help the planet – Eat the rich – Abolish the police’.
Activists from the group Futuro Vegetal sprayed the white facade of the building with red and black paint.
In a statement on X, the group said: “We have signed the contract for Messi’s mansion in Ibiza. The mansion is an illegal construction that the footballer acquired for the exorbitant sum of 11 million euros.”
The group added: “While the far right blames migrants for the crisis and displays extreme violence towards them, people like us who fight for a better world clearly understand that the problem is social inequality.”

Messi, who currently plays for Inter Miami in the United States, is reported to have bought the property for around 11 million euros.
Future Plant cited an Oxfam 2023 report that found the richest one percent of the world’s population generated the same amount of carbon emissions in 2019 as the poorest two-thirds of humanity.
This is happening despite the fact that the most vulnerable communities are the ones suffering the “worst consequences” of this crisis.
Messi, who currently plays for Inter Miami in the United States, is reported to have bought the property on the Mediterranean island (which includes a spa with sauna and a cinema room) in 2022 from a Swiss businessman for around €11m (£10m).
But the mansion lacked a certificate of occupancy — a document issued by a local government agency certifying it is in habitable condition — due to the construction of several rooms on the property without a license, according to Spanish media reports.
Futuro Vegetal, which is linked to similar groups internationally, has organized dozens of similar protests, including one in 2022 in which they glued their hands to frames of paintings by Spanish master Francisco de Goya at Madrid’s Prado Museum.
Last year, activists from the group spray-painted a superyacht moored in Ibiza in red and black that allegedly belonged to Nancy Walton Laurie, the billionaire heiress of US retail giant Walmart.
Spanish police said in January they had arrested 22 members of Futuro Vegetal, including the two who organised the protest in the Prado, as well as the group’s three main leaders.

Last year, Future Plant destroyed Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie’s £241m superyacht Kaos by spraying it with red and black paint.
Protesters from the group sprayed the 360ft boat with fire extinguishers as it was moored in Ibiza shortly after 9am on Sunday.
A video has emerged showing two eco zandals approaching the ‘Kaos’ and beginning to spray paint on it, while the staff on board run around and try to wash it off with water.
After desecrating the superyacht, which belongs to the Walmart heiress who is worth an estimated $7.7 billion, protesters were seen holding a sign reading “You consume, others suffer.”
A crew member on a yacht near Kaos told MailOnline the damage to the boat is likely to cost its owner “millions” and criticised the port’s “pointless” security.
