NBA star LeBron James has opened up about his decision to support Kamala Harris for president in next Tuesday’s election.
The Los Angeles Lakers star revealed his stance Thursday on social media, but after leading his team to a 131-125 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night with 27 points, he opened up about the decision.
Speaking to reporters in the locker room, James said, “Well, I was going to do it on game day in Cleveland, but I didn’t want to upstage Bronny and I coming home.” That’s when I planned to do it.
‘Yesterday seemed like a good day, everything was kind of quiet. And I wanted to make sure it was seen, heard and heard strongly.
“So having a daughter, having a wife, a mother, things of that nature that she believes in when it comes to women’s rights and when it comes to my children’s future and where I see where our country should be, I feel that way. The support is the right thing to do.

James, 39, spoke about the influence his wife Savannah and family had on him.
The NBA’s biggest star made his support for Kamala Harris public on Thursday
‘And come on, I mean, you guys know me. I’m very sure it wasn’t going the other way.
‘What are we talking about here?’ James wrote to his 53 million followers on X and his 159 million followers on Instagram on Thursday.
‘When I think about my children and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE FOR KAMALA HARRIS!!!’
To back up his endorsement, the NBA star posted a video that stitched together footage from the civil rights movement and controversial comments made by Trump.
The video includes comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who was invited to speak at a recent Trump rally, making a racist comment about him and a black friend “carving watermelons together,” as well as Trump declaring in an old interview that “so Maybe hate is what we need.’
It also features aggressive clips of the Republican leader played over decades-old footage of civil rights protests and abuses.
However, LeBron is now facing backlash for his endorsement of Harris and his attack on Trump, which fans claim has been “united.”
One user posted in the comments section: ‘From your biggest fan, piecing together a bunch of unrelated sound bites from these racially charged videos is sad propaganda and disgraceful work. You should be ashamed. There is so much real content you could have posted to get your message across, you didn’t need to make up this narrative. I’m embarrassed my goat posted this.
Another commented: “King, this was all taken out of context.”
The NBA legend urged his followers to vote for Harris in next week’s presidential election.
James has criticized Donald Trump before in his first term as president.
James scored 27 points on Friday night as the Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors in the NBA.
“No, it’s not this,” a third responded to James. “Taking speeches out of context and placing them next to racist historical events is a classic Democrat move.”
‘Those clips at the beginning are literally stitched together. If you can’t see that, you’re blind,” said a fourth.
Another concluded: “This is the most false and propagandistic post I have ever seen.”
LeBron has campaigned for Democrats in the past and has spoken out publicly against former President Trump.
In 2008, the Los Angeles Lakers team hosted a Jay-Z concert to support Barack Obama’s run for the White House. He later campaigned for Hillary Clinton during her battle with Trump in 2016.
A year later, James criticized Trump on social media. It came after Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry said he would skip the NBA champions’ traditional visit to the White House, prompting Trump to “withdraw” the invitation.
“You’re a bum,” LeBron wrote. ‘@StephenCurry30 already said he won’t go! Therefore, there is no invitation. Going to the White House was a great honor until you showed up!
