The Republican North Carolina House Speaker is facing a lawsuit from a former government official who accuses him of having group sex with people who wanted political favors.
Tim Moore is also accused by plaintiff Scott Lassiter of having an affair with his wife. In the suit, he included photos of them on what he believed to be a restaurant date.
Lassiter also alleged in the lawsuit that his wife Jamie Liles Lassiter was afraid to end the case because it would hurt her job as executive director of the North Carolina Superior Court Clerks’ Conference.
Lassiter admitted to spying on his wife and Moore – who is divorced – having dinner at a steakhouse in Raleigh on December 21 after she told him she was out with a friend. When Lassiter confronted her, she told him about the case.
Lassiter claimed that five days later he confronted Moore at a restaurant in Raleigh, where he admitted the affair and then made her an offer.
Moore’s attorney released a statement after the filing saying they looked forward to a trial and “we are confident the President will be exonerated.”

Jamie Lassiter had an affair with Moore between 2019 and January 2023, according to legal documents.
When Jamie Lassiter was confronted, according to the suit, she admitted to the affair and engaged in group sex with others seeking political favor from Moore. No other details were provided on these encounters.
When Scott Lassiter confronted the GOP leader, Moore offered to provide political assistance, the lawsuit said.
“Towards the end of the meeting, the defendant Tim Moore asked the plaintiff ‘on a completely independent note’ if there was anything he could do for the plaintiff, implying that he could use the power he held in as president in some way for the benefit of the plaintiff,” the suit stated.
“Plaintiff angrily told defendant Tim Moore that he did not want any political favors,” he continued.
A second person is listed as a defendant in the lawsuit, although not named.
Lassiter claims that John Doe snuck onto his property to install a camera “at an angle facing the plaintiff’s house so that it could, based on information and belief, capture photos and video recordings of events inside and outside the house (of Lassiter)”.
Scott Lassiter, who served on the Apex City Council in 2010 and is currently the deputy superintendent of the Wake County public school system, is seeking $200,000 in damages in North Carolina, one of the few states where a lover rejected can sue someone for interference in their marriage.
The cases are known as “alienation of affection” and can be filed in five other states.
“Moore used his position as one of North Carolina’s most powerful elected officials to induce the plaintiff’s wife, a mid-level state government employee, to engage in an illicit relationship with him. ”
Moore, who has served in the State House since 2003 and as president since 2015, denied the charges, while Jamie Lassiter called the trial “punitive”.
Jamie Lassiter, in a statement to WRALsaid Moore was not responsible for the dissolution of her marriage, which she says ended years ago, even after she signed a separation agreement.

Moore, who has served in the State House since 2003 and as president since 2015, denied the charges, while Jamie Lassiter called the trial “punitive”.
She also claims that Scott Lassiter is the only person who has ever tried to ruin his career.
“Scott Lassiter has serious mental health and addiction issues, which I can only assume led him to file this outrageous and defamatory complaint,” she said.
“The claims are not only false but impossible as we have been separated with a signed separation document for years. To be clear, I’m a strong professional woman, and the only person who ever abused me or threatened my career was my future ex-husband.
“Our marriage was a nightmare, and since I left it has gotten worse. We are coming to the end of our divorce proceedings and this is how he goes wild.

President Moore has publicly denied the charges, calling them “baseless”.
“We will vigorously defend this action and pursue all available legal remedies,” he said.

Moore also released a statement through his attorney, Stacey Miller, according to ABC11.
“I look forward to meeting Mr. Lassiter in the courtroom. We are convinced that the President will be exonerated.
When asked to comment, Lassiter’s attorney said in a statement that “the complaint speaks for itself.” There is compelling evidence to back up Mr. Lassiter’s claims.
