Formed by Lauryn, Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean, Fugees rose to stardom in the 1990s, but released only two albums before their breakup in 1997.
It comes after the group surprised fans by canceling the US leg of their tour in August, just three days before the first show.
She shared the reason a day after fans were shocked to see emails in their inboxes announcing that the concerts were canceled and their refunds were on the way.
In his statement, Hill attributed the cancellations to low ticket sales.
However, he alleged that the slow sales were not the result of fan disinterest, but rather the result of media “sensationalism” and “clickbait headlines.”
“With difficulty the decision was made to cancel the dates of our upcoming North American tour,” he wrote, clarifying that “the shows in the UK and Europe ARE PROGRESSING as planned.”
Although the Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill singer has earned a reputation over the years for canceling performances and starting late, she attributed a recent string of cancellations to a medical issue.
“Last year I had an injury that forced me to reschedule some of my shows,” he explained. ‘Unfortunately, some media outlets’ penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines has apparently created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American leg of the tour.
