“I had a bad experience in the hospital and to be honest, I was sheer fear about how much milk my baby was getting. No, I don’t want your baby to take what he needs, etc. Because my baby wasn’t. This has been the whole battle. My baby was born with #jaundice and was dehydrated (which I know is common, I’m not saying I’m the first or the last). ‘
She continued to share her own journey, adding, “Every [baby] is born with too many red blood cells, it is as if they can remove the red blood cells on their own. We didn’t know until I got home and the [baby] did not feed at all.
“Imagine coming home and the only person of yours [baby] trust is YOU and you can’t get them to work. I had pure fear that I cried every time. We then had to test and then they said, “Your baby needs a lot of milk to fight it and blue light therapy.

“We can either take the baby to the special care unit and feed it through a tube, or you can feed it continuously for three days.” I didn’t want the tube for me [baby] so for 2 nights I had NO sleep and was # breastfeeding my baby for up to an hour every hour, then pumping to prepare the stock for home and then feeding a bottle of formula.
“That’s how much my baby needed to fight it and sit on the blue light therapy bed.”
She discussed the impact on her and said, “It was a lot for me physically and emotionally. I was only in hospital because of the #pandemic. My [baby] sucked his tongue and so wouldn’t lock in the beginning or take the bottle and had to be taught.
