Lauren Harries’ mother has shared a heartbreaking health update after the star was left bedridden and will remain in hospital following a botched operation on her spine.
The 45-year-old former Celebrity Big Brother housemate was originally checked in in April after suffering excruciating headaches and blackouts, before undergoing emergency brain surgery.
Now, her mother, Katy, has revealed that during an MRI, doctors found a split in Lauren’s spine that led to her needing “high-risk” surgery.
However, Katy has sadly informed fans that the operation was “unsuccessful” and that Lauren will remain in the hospital for the foreseeable future despite being desperate to “get home.”
Via his daughter’s official Twitter account, he wrote: “Lauren had to have spinal surgery due to a split spine.” This was very painful, it is worrying as the spine is the most dangerous place to operate next to the brain.’

Update: However, Katy has sadly revealed that the operation was “unsuccessful” and that Lauren will remain in the hospital for the foreseeable future despite being desperate to “get home.”
“Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful, so the doctors are looking at other options. She has been in the hospital now for over 2.5 months.
Before adding: ‘His spine is concerning to the doctors and he will be staying longer. We don’t know why or how this happened. She just wants to get home.’
Last month it was reported that Lauren had slipped into an induced coma after undergoing major brain surgery.
Her family updated fans and shared on Lauren’s Twitter: “Laren last night had a seizure and the doctors had to put her in an induced coma to control her.”
‘Lauren needs all your support and wishes, she loves you all.’
It comes after the brave Lauren posed for photos at the hospital after the emergency operation that resulted in her hair being shaved off.
Lauren’s mom took to her Twitter page to give fans an update, assuring them that her daughter would be home soon.
She wrote: ‘Lauren is undergoing physiotherapy to regain her strength after the operation. She is still in the hospital, but I hope she will be home soon.

Her family updated fans and shared on Lauren’s Twitter: “Laren last night had a seizure and the doctors had to put her in an induced coma to control her.”
It has been a very stressful time, but she knows that her family is always with her. We all love her so much, the love of mother and daughter is so strong!
Lauren checked into the hospital last month before undergoing emergency brain surgery.
Earlier this month, he took to his social media pages to tell fans that he had nearly died as a result of his illness.
The TV personality took to her Instagram Stories to tell her followers: ‘Hello my stars. Well, I’m still in the hospital.
‘Almost dying makes you appreciate every moment. So enjoy the sun and know that I love you. Light, love and peace.’
She then shared a photo of one of her selfies that she sells on her website and a couple of the make-back cards she’s received.
The reassuring post came a day after Lauren’s mother, Katy, pleaded for help over Lauren’s “incredibly scary” blackouts and headaches.
Lauren was first admitted to the hospital for the procedure on April 14, with no known cause.
Katy has been providing updates on her daughter’s condition and has now called for help as the NHS struggles to find answers after saving her life.

Posting an update on Lauren’s Twitter, her mother wrote: “Please help: Lauren has had several blackouts after which the right side of her face droops.”
This is incredibly scary for Lauren and for us. She also has a constant headache. Doctors have been unable to explain what is causing them.
Katy continued: ‘Have you or someone you know been through this? Any ideas or help you can give will be very helpful.
“The NHS saved Lauren, but they can’t find any answers for this and it’s very scary when it happens.
Yesterday it happened again. Please help us figure out what’s causing this!’
Last month, Katy shared that Lauren was rushed into intensive care after contracting infections before returning to neurology.
In the update, shared on Lauren’s official Twitter account at the time, Katy said Lauren was “up and talking” and urged people to “pray for her.”

She shared: ‘Lauren was moved to ICU because she contracted Covid and 2 infections that caused her to have breathing problems.
She’s awake and talking again in Neurology. I want to thank all the amazing staff at Heath Hospital again. She still has a ways to go, but she is strong. Pray for her.’
Lauren found fame as a precocious 12-year-old antiques expert named James, appearing on Antiques Roadshow and Wogan, before undergoing gender reassignment surgery in 2003.
The latest health update comes a week after Katy told fans that Lauren had returned to recovery, where she was “under close surveillance.”
