Rep. Lauren Boebert was seen beaming through the Capitol with her familyn the first day of the new Congress, despite her eldest son’s legal drama.

The 38-year-old mother of four, and grandmother of one, wore a chic blue blazer with red cuffs and white trousers as she posed for photos with her family.

“I’m proud to have my family by my side today as I will be sworn in tonight as Congressman for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District!” Boebert posted on X next to photos of her boys smiling on the first day of the 119th Congress.

In another photo, the family was lined up along a marble staircase outside the House chamber.

Later, as the House of Representatives prepared to vote on whether Speaker Mike Johnson would be re-elected for another term, Boebert was seen on the House floor with her son Tyler Boebert, 19, and his son.

The teenage father was seen playing with his son while his mother chatted with her fellow lawmakers.

At one point, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., was seen playing with Boebert’s grandson, playfully holding the baby as legislative business took place all around.

But the adorable display Friday comes after months of legal troubles for Boebert’s eldest son Tyler.

In October 2024, 19-year-old Tyler Boebert pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft, a misdemeanor, in a Colorado district court after committing a crime.

Tyler initially faced 22 charges, but all but one were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, court documents show.

He was charged after a crime involving breaking into vehicles around the small Colorado City of Rifle in February 2024.

Authorities alleged that Tyler stole credit cards from the vehicles and later used those cards to purchase fast food and other items.

After a lengthy court battle, during which Tyler at one point claimed he couldn’t afford a lawyer, the judge in the case showed the teen some mercy.

Judge John F. Neiley told Tyler during his final hearing, “I don’t know much about you, but I know you are a young man.”

‘You were 18 when you committed this crime. You have no criminal record and this is an opportunity you should not miss.’

If he completes two years’ probation in good standing with the court, Tyler could have the charge expunged from his record, allowing him to avoid a misdemeanor on his record.

“I am sure the proceedings in this court have been embarrassing for you and your family, but you must realize that your actions have affected the lives of the victims,” Neily told the Republican’s son.

In addition to two years of probation, Tyler will also have to perform up to 80 hours of community service to have the felony charge dropped.

Tyler, like his mother, had a child when he was only 18 years old.

The Republican had her son Tyler in 2004. She later dropped out of high school to care for him.

“Now, my son, when I approached him and said to him, ‘Tyler, I’m going to be a 36-year-old grandmother,’ he said, ‘Well, didn’t you make Grandma a 36-year-old grandmother?’ ?’ Boebert talked about her conversation with Tyler.

“I said, ‘Yes, I did.’ He said, ‘Well, it’s hereditary,'” the Republican continued.
