Laura Henshaw, co-founder of Keep It Cleaner, has admitted that some people were “shocked” to learn that her new husband Dalton had taken her last name when they tied the knot last month.

Speak with Mamamia on Monday, Laura, 28, said even his own family was surprised but “understanding.”

“Dalton comes from a very traditional family, so it was definitely a difficult conversation because it was such a shock,” explains Laura.

Laura added that there was ‘negative and positive’ talk about masculinity on social media after Dalton, born Graham, became Mr Henshaw.

“There has been some commentary on Instagram about masculinity, both negative and positive, which I found very interesting,” she said.

“A person’s decision to take his partner’s last name does not make him more or less masculine or more or less feminine.”

Laura explained that it was Dalton who first came up with the idea of ​​taking her last name and that they decided to become Mr. and Mrs. Henshaw because it “felt right” to them.

She added that her husband’s romantic gesture “meaned more than she could put into words” because he is such a supportive partner.

“What an absolute dream and we got to take the boys with us,” she said at the time, referring to their dogs who attended the event wearing bows.

Her wedding dress featured a strapless design, a boned bodice and a flowing tiered skirt.

Among her bridesmaids, who all wore beautiful white silk dresses, was her co-founder of Keep it Cleaner, Steph Claire Smith.

Laura became engaged in 2018 to partner Dalton, who runs his own advertising and marketing agency.

Earlier this year, Laura revealed she had to postpone their wedding for the fourth time as Victoria entered another Covid lockdown.
