New details have emerged surrounding the Latrell Mitchell scandal after a photo appearing to show the football star near a white substance went viral.

The leaked photograph appears to show the injured Rabbitohs fullback leaning over a table with his right hand near the substance and his left hand on his face.

The NRL Integrity Unit is investigating the star defender in relation to the image, and there is very little information available about the exact details surrounding the photograph.

But NRL 360’s Buzz Rothfield has shed some light on the episode, revealing the alleged incident took place over the weekend.

“Latrell was in Dubbo last weekend, good for him, putting on a training clinic,” Rothfield said on Monday’s show.

“And according to my information… this photo was taken after that clinic.”

The image first came to the attention of Souths and the NRL when a journalist arrived at the Bunnies’ training on Monday and began asking questions, according to News Corporation.

In a statement provided to Daily Mail Australia, South Sydney said: ‘The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been made aware of a photograph circulating on social media of Latrell Mitchell following a personal appearance in Dubbo at the weekend.

‘The Club has informed the NRL Integrity Unit about the photograph.

‘The Rabbitohs will not be making any further comment at this time.’

The NRL has confirmed that it is aware of the image being circulated.

Mitchell has spent the past few weeks sidelined with a foot injury sustained against Parramatta on July 4.

He was in the stands but did not play in the Bunnies’ 28-16 defeat to the Storm at Homebush last Thursday night.

The club is still unsure whether he will be able to return to the field this year despite doctors deciding he did not need season-ending surgery on his left foot injury.

It has been a troubled season for Mitchell and Souths, with the club struggling and him battling injuries and poor form.
