Rabbitohs back Latrell Mitchell could have some explaining to do at NRL headquarters after being banded on live radio several times following his side’s defeat at the hands of the Broncos on Thursday night.

Mitchell, 26, endured a mixed night at Suncorp Stadium as his side lost their second game in a row to open the 2024 season.

Speaking to Triple M’s Ben Dobbin, the homegrown star lamented his side didn’t take their chances as they were outclassed 28-18.

“Look, honestly, f**k, it was bad,” he began.

‘In the first half it was just a hard fight, f**k, we showed what we’re about.

‘Honestly, they’re big boys, they’re competitors. You wonder why they came second last year, so f**k, we can build on that.

“I don’t care if I swear, boys, honestly.”

Mitchell then explained he was pleased to score his 100th NRL try during the game and added another F-bomb.

Dobbin kept his cool before Fox League commentator Dan Ginnane firmly ‘thanked’ Mitchell for his time on air.

Jason Demetriou was not a happy full-time coach, labeling his side’s performance a ‘horror show’.

Mitchell scored his 100th career try but it proved to be in vain as Brisbane won 28-18

“I thought our defensive effort was outstanding, but we’re just shooting ourselves in the foot,” he said.

‘Whether we can’t feed the scrum properly or tackle mistakes first, kick it into our own player, penalties for blocking, like it was a horror show of little things that just kept putting pressure on ourselves.

‘We’re just making schoolboy areas. We have to clean them up. When we do that, we have a very, very good footy side.’

In what has been a brutal start to the season, arch-rivals the Roosters await on March 22 at Allianz Stadium.
