These are the last photos of Hairy Biker Dave Myers, who passed away earlier this week after a long battle with cancer, showing him relaxing with his best friend Si King as they watched the first leg of his final tour together.

King announced today that Myers passed away on Wednesday with his friends and family at his side, two years after he revealed he was undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.

In a heartbreaking statement, Si said today: “Hello everyone, I’m afraid I have some sad news.”

‘Most of you will know that Dave has been battling cancer for the last few years.

‘Last night, February 28, 2024, with Dave’s wife Lili, his family, his close friend David and I at his side, he passed away peacefully at home.

‘Everyone who knew Dave is devastated by his passing. His beloved wife brought him as much happiness as his children, Iza and Sergiu, whom Dave loved as if they were his own.

‘Personally, I’m not sure I can put into words how I feel right now.

‘My best friend is on a journey that I cannot continue for now. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared for half a lifetime.

‘I wish you the speed of God brother; You are and will continue to be a lighthouse in this world. See you on the other side. I love you.’

The beloved duo met while both working in the film industry (Dave as a makeup artist and Si as a location manager) and were united by their love of food and motorcycles.

Throughout their career, the best friends have earned a reputation as the friendly faces of TV cooking, with 31 different projects since they first debuted on the BBC in 2006.

In the latest episode of The Hairy Bikers Go West, Dave and Si explored Lancashire.

During their trip, the couple reflected and Simon expressed his joy at being back in action.

He said: ‘It’s great to be back here with my best friend. 18 months ago we didn’t think we’d be back on our bikes roaming around Dave’s backyard and it’s wonderful that we are.”

Earlier this month, Si thanked Dave for making his latest series special, after being able to return to filming.

Myers was married to Liliana Orzac, whom he met while filming Hairy Bikers in Romania, and was stepfather to her two children, Iza and Sergiu, from a previous relationship.

In a post to her friends, Liliana spoke about her “fears” and “exhaustion” just days before Dave’s death.

Posting a photo of a luxurious bathroom, she talked about how important self-care is when going through difficult times.

The trainer and hypnotherapist said: ‘Will taking a hot bath remove all problems, dilemmas, fears or exhaustion? Of course not!

‘But… it’s very much part of a self-care action. Soooo…. I’m going to take a hot bubble bath! And I encourage you all to do small or big things that you enjoy for your well-being!’

In an emotional comment, she added: “Today is a tough day so I’m enjoying a little pampering.”

Dave and Liliana kept their personal lives incredibly private after marrying in 2011 in the star’s hometown of Barrow, Cumbria.

But thanking her carers with a special Christmas dinner as part of an episode of Hairy Bikers this Christmas, she spoke about how vital Liliana had been to her care.

Speaking about his cancer diagnosis, he said: ‘It has an impact on the family. It’s so difficult for my wife and my family, you know, that without knowing it, your future is completely upside down.

‘And I also think for my wife, it gave her some freedom away from me. It felt good to be able to give her time to herself, whether it was going to the gym or the spa, just to have some of her time, because it’s been all-encompassing.”
