The United States shot down an unmanned Iranian drone heading toward Israel, two US officials said.

Israel puts occupied Golan Heights on high alert for drone attacks

The Israeli military put the northern part of the occupied Golan Heights, as well as Nevatim, Dimona and Eilat, on alert for a possible impact from Iranian drone launches early Sunday, and ordered residents to stay near the air raid shelters.

The Golan was captured from Syria in a 1967 war. Nevatim is the site of an Israeli air base. Israel has a nuclear reactor outside Dimona. Eilat is Israel’s southern Red Sea port, which has come under repeated attacks by Yemen’s Houthis.
