The late actor Lance Reddick remained on the minds of his co-stars at the premiere of “John Wick 4” days after his sudden death.
Reddick posthumously appears in the action film as hotel concierge Charon, a character he also played in the previous three films in the franchise.
“He is the goodness of this movie.”Laurence Fishburne told the Associated Press at the premiere Monday night in Los Angeles. “He was, in many ways, the heart of the movie because his character loved John Wick.”
Director Chad Stahelski and star Keanu Reeves previously dedicated “John Wick 4” to Reddick, whose death at age 60 last Friday was attributed to natural causes.
“Just to be in his light and have the opportunity to work with him, I will cherish him for the rest of my life,” Reeves said Monday. “She had such a passion for her job and his craft. He was nice. He had a dignity to him and a presence.”
Reeves, who plays the film’s title character, was among those wearing blue ribbons Monday as a tribute to Reddick.
“You know, it’s always hard when you lose someone you love very much … but you’re also incredibly grateful for the time you had together,” Stahelski told the AP. “We were lucky to work with Lance from the very beginning of the ‘John Wick’ franchise.”
