Nima Momeni was arrested at his home in the early hours of Thursday morning, and faces murder charges for allegedly stabbing the tech mogul.
He was shown a sign of a heart by a relative in public exhibition as he entered the courtroom, before his indictment was significantly delayed because one of the plaintiffs was on leave.
Moumene is now scheduled to appear in court on April 25.
The 38-year-old is the owner of Expand IT, a Bay Area tech company, and describes himself online as a start-up entrepreneur.

San Francisco District Attorney Brock Jenkins charged Momeni with murder, along with another charge of special improvement to use a knife.
At a news conference Thursday, the DA’s office said they are seeking to hold Momeni without bail, arguing that he poses a danger to the community.
Nehme appeared in court on Friday with his head shaved and wearing an orange prison vest, pants and sandals, but not in handcuffs.
Several of his relatives are seen sitting behind his defense table, and a gray-haired woman is seen placing her hands on her head in the shape of a heart as he arrives.
Momeni’s motives for the alleged attack were not revealed, but police confirmed that the two men knew each other.
The tech entrepreneur was also joined in the courtroom by his glamorous sister Khazar Momeni, who reportedly introduced the couple and owns properties near where Lee was stabbed and the suburb he lived in last year.

Bob Lee, 43, was stabbed in the street in the early hours of April 4 while visiting San Francisco from Miami, where he lives.
It is unclear whether Momeni attended the same tech conference Lee was in town for, but the pair were seen in Momeni’s car together at around 2.30am, moments before the stabbing.
And police sources said that some kind of confrontation between them led to the attack.
Krista, Bob Lee’s ex-wife, told local Fox News 2 that she remains puzzled about the suspect’s motives, but confirmed that the couple knew each other.
Harrowing surveillance footage captured the moments after the stabbing, with Lee somehow exiting the car before leaving a trail of blood as he struggled to walk down the street.
The horrific images show Lee stumbling through the city after being stabbed in the chest. He died in hospital later that morning.
