Kostas Tsimikas shoots wide
Liverpool show good intentions here, pressing hard and winning the ball back quickly when they lose it.
That determination resulted in the ball falling at the feet of Tsimikas, but unfortunately for the Reds, his shot ended up nowhere near the goal as he dragged it wide.
Chance for Darwin Nunez
Darwin Nunez heads over the bar after a looping cross from Harvey Elliott on the left.
Liverpool had to reset themselves
This is the time to be calm. Liverpool can’t let this early goal derail them, and the saving grace is that they have experience of coming from behind this season.
Ryan Gravenberch felt quite comfortable and ended up with a good one-two in the penalty area, but could not get a shot away.
GOAL! LASK 1-0 Liverpool! Florian Flecker!
That’s a Flecker attack.
The corner is turned towards him once it rests unmarked on the edge of the penalty area, and he takes one touch before sweeping it diagonally across the goal.
Ben Doak wins corner
Ben Doak is clearly a one-on-one threat.
He shot into the penalty area and beat his man before playing him across the goal. Out for a corner with an interception, and LASK defends it well.
Liverpool win another corner after Kostas heads in Tsimikas’ cross.
Early promise from Harvey Elliott
Harvey Elliott was active in the start of the match for Liverpool.
The young midfielder got on the ball and has been a regular part of their attacks so far.

Jurgen Klopp: ‘We want to let Ryan Gravenberch out of the cage’
Jurgen Klopp told TNT Sports that Ryan Gravenberch has impressed him from day one.
He said: ‘Ryan looked from the first second he’s with us, he wants to show up, so we want to let him out of the cage.’
On Doak: “(I hope) he enjoys the game. He is exceptional in his one-on-one skills, but he can improve in many departments. We are really positive.’
About LASK: ‘We have to defend at a top level because they have brought in a player with a long throw-in and they have two wing0-backs who can throw the entire length of the stadium!’
On squad rotation: ‘The players who played on Saturday could have played again, but we have to make sure we use the full squad.
I have a team today that wants to prove its point and show up. We want to show that we really want to give everything in this competition.’

Follow our reporter Lewis Steele!
Our Merseyside reporter Lewis Steele is in Linz this evening. Here is his assessment of Jurgen Klopp’s selection decisions tonight:
Well, we thought Jurgen Klopp would make changes, but perhaps not at this level as none of the players who started Saturday’s win at Wolves were left in the XI here.
There is a well-deserved start for 17-year-old Scottish sensation Ben Doak, while Irish goalkeeper Caiomhin Kelleher gets a chance. New Deadline Day signing Ryan Gravenberch has been there from the start after making his Wolves debut from the bench, and 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic is playing after a long injury layoff. Edge players Harvey Elliott and Darwin Núñez will also start after impressing in the second half on Saturday.
Who is Ben Doak?
Ben Doak is currently somewhere in the process of what we call ‘coming onto the scene’.
He is only 17 and has only made a handful of appearances after joining from Celtic last year, but he has already made a big impression on his superiors. Virgil van Dijk even compared him to a ‘Tasmanian Devil’ due to his skill and speed – how many players get that honour?
Tonight he becomes the third youngest player to start a European game for the club, after Raheem Sterling and Michael Owen.
A trip down memory lane
Liverpool’s 2015/2016 Europa League season was exciting and gave fans a sense of hope after a disappointing period in their history.
Although they lost 3-1 to Sevilla in the final, some of these players are considered Liverpool heroes for what they have gone on to achieve since then. Others? Not so much.
Look where that lineup is today.
Tonight’s location
The Raiffeisen Arena in the beautiful city of Linz will host the meeting tonight.
It only opened earlier this year on the site of the old ground and seats around 19,000 spectators.
Eleven changes to Liverpool’s lineup
Jurgen Klopp has made significant changes to his starting line-up for this match.
Summer signing Ryan Gravenberch will get his first start in Liverpool colors after coming on as a late substitute in their last match.
Starlet Ben Doak will be given the opportunity to shine on the wing from the start, alongside fellow youngsters Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic, who are steadily building their first-team careers.
Hello and welcome
Good afternoon and welcome to Mail Sport’s live blog as Liverpool travel to Austria to take on LASK.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are back in this competition for the first time since the 2015/16 season, when they reached the final and lost to Sevilla. We will see a few young players getting opportunities for the Reds in Europe this season.
They face a club on the rise in LASK, who have gone from strength to strength since rejoining the Austrian Bundesliga in 2017/18. Last season they finished third.
