A Las Vegas woman who was told her husband had died in a hit-and-run accident is now dealing with a whirlwind of emotions after police revealed a mistake in his identification.
Esther Acosta, 33, was horrified to learn that her husband, Brandon Green, 38, ‘had succumbed to his injuries’ on September 17, after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Purple Flower Lane and South Durango Drive.
However, a day later, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department redacted its statement and informed Acosta of a mistaken identification.
LVMPD then told the mother of two that her husband was alive and in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

The near-fatal accident occurred in the early morning hours of September 15 when the driver of an unknown vehicle traveling south collided with a pedestrian. police reports reveal.
The driver fled the scene after the collision and has not yet been identified.
Acosta said her husband did not have any identification when he was hit.
Green reportedly entered a rehab facility just before the accident, as his wife told him she had been struggling with addiction following the unexpected death of her mother months earlier.
The distraught wife also said her husband faces a long road to recovery and expects him to remain in the hospital for several months.
