An unwanted visitor was chased from Downing Street after Larry the cat sawed off a fox behind number 10.

A series of images revealed the tense encounter between Downing Street resident Larry and the fox, who is believed to be a regular on the street as well.

The fox wanders through shrubs and plants in a garden behind Downing Street, unaware that he is being watched.

On top of a wooden bench, Downing Street’s main mouser saw the intruder walk into his territory.

It’s not until the fox approaches the bank that Larry makes his move, taking pictures of the cat staring at the fox before chasing it out of the yard.

February marked 10 years since Larry moved to Downing Street to help with mice.

Last month, it was revealed that Larry had been piling on the pounds during lockdown, with a memo to Downing Street staff to cut down on the treats he was served.

Don’t worry, a fox, believed to be a regular visitor to Downing Street, carves a casual figure as it wanders among the plants behind the Cabinet Office earlier in the day
