Hickory Hollow Jerky is recalling approximately 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky because it was produced without the required federal inspection.

The beef jerky and bacon products were manufactured between January 19 and August 21, 2024.

This issue is due to a change in ownership at the business on June 11, 2024. Two different owners operated the facility during this time, and neither of them had inspected the products.

The company name and product names remained unchanged during this period.

The recalled jerky products bear establishment number ‘EST. NO. 34550’ and were distributed to retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma and online.

The problem was identified during routine FSIS inspections. Despite requesting that federal inspections be halted, the company continued to produce jerky and label it with the USDA mark.

There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from the consumption of these products.

If you have any concerns, the company urges consumers to consult a health care professional, according to its website.

FSIS is also urging consumers to check their pantries for the recalled jerky. Do not consume these products. Throw them away or return them to the store where you purchased them.

FSIS is actively monitoring the recall to ensure the firm notifies customers and removes the product from stores. A list of affected retailers will be posted on the FSIS website.
