Lamine Yamal looks to inspire Spain to Euro 2024 glory against England in Sunday's final

Lamine Yamal’s father says his son is not worried about playing against England in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday and believes Spain will win 3-0.

Speaking to ITV News in Yamal’s home town of Rocafonda, Spain, father Mounir Nasraoui believes his son will “leave a big mark” in the game against the Three Lions.

He described his son as a man of “integrity” and “joy”, and spoke of his pride at the fact that his son had become the youngest player to appear at a European Championship.

“I hope he leaves his mark,” Nasraoui said in the interview. “But I would like anyone to leave their mark if it means taking the trophy home. You have to think about the team, not just the individual players.”

‘There is no middle ground, but playing as a group and supporting as a group is the most important thing.

The young prodigy, who turns 17 on Saturday, has become the tournament’s breakout player, with his incredible goal in the semi-final against France also making him the youngest player to score at a European Championship.

His father reaffirmed his belief that La Rojas “will win for sure”, saying the score will be “3-0”, but he does not know if Yamal will score.

The Barcelona winger has also earned praise for his match-winning performances, providing three assists for the Spanish national team, currently the most at Euro 2024.

Asked about his thoughts on his son’s overall impact at the Euros, Nasraoui replied: “It’s incredible, he’s a good tactician; it’s an honour, as a father and as a person, to see him.”

“He’s a guy who has things under control. He’s focused on other, more important things, because life… personal well-being is the most important thing,” he added.

‘He’s a happy boy and no matter what happens, he’s proud and down to earth, that’s the most important thing.’

He said his son is his “big dream” and that he always knew Yamal would be a “star.”

He explained: “As a father, I could clearly feel that he… I could always see that he was a star. Through my own eyes, he is a star to me.”

And he said Yamal has had the same impact regardless of football: “I don’t know what others think, but for me he has always been a star. Not just in terms of football, but in general.”

A photo of baby Yamal, his mother and Lionel Messi recently went viral after Nasraoui posted it on Instagram, captioning it “The beginning of two legends.”

Now he will be looking for his son to match the heroism of the idol from Yamal and bring home the Euro Cup for Spain.
