Barcelona star Lamina Yamal broke another record when her team faced Real Madrid in El Clásico.
Hansi Flick’s team dominated their oldest rivals on Saturday night by winning the final leg of the match 4-0, leaving the Bernabeu in shock with Madrid condemned to their first defeat of the season.
With the game 0-0 at half-time, the visitors caught fire in the second half with two goals from Robert Lewandowski, a third from Yamal and a goal from Raphinha six minutes from time.
It was a match that potentially left more questions than answers when it came to the future of both clubs, but no one is scratching their heads when it comes to winger Yamal’s ability.
After scoring in one of the most anticipated games of the season, he once again recorded his name in history by becoming the youngest scorer in the history of a Clásico at 17 years and 105 days old.
Lamine Yamal broke another record by shining for Barcelona in El Clásico on Saturday
The 17-year-old scored Barcelona’s third goal in the 4-0 victory while shining on the right wing.
The victory left Barça six points clear at the top of LaLiga, while Madrid lost for the first time this season.
The teenage sensation broke Ansu Fati’s record, which he scored against Madrid in 2020 at the age of 17 years and 359 days.
The goal came in Yamal’s fourth game, having burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old last season, but Saturday marked the first time he scored in the tie.
The record is just the latest in a long list that Yamal, who was born in July 2007, has surpassed.
He is the youngest player to have started a LaLiga match, which came when he lined up for Barça in the 2023-24 season against Cádiz at the age of 16 years and 38 days. And just a few days later, he became the youngest player to provide an assist in LaLiga.
He is also the youngest Barça player to debut in the Champions League, the youngest starter in Champions League history, the youngest player to record an assist in the Champions League and the youngest player to win a important international trophy.
There are a number of other records that Yamal has broken listed on the Barcelona club website, including being the youngest player to play in the last 16 of the Champions League and being the youngest player to appear in a final of a European Championship.
He is expected to move forward and achieve a lot in his career, having won the European Championship with Spain in the summer.
Yamal suggested after the game that Barça believes it is “the best team in the world”
The goal set another record, which also includes being the youngest player to win a major international trophy.
The winger doesn’t lack confidence either. “We believe we are the best team in the world,” he said after the victory over Madrid. “They said we only beat normal teams, now we beat Real Madrid 4-0 at their home.”
“We have shown that we can beat anyone.”
